The PPO was
established in 1953 to help advance photography as an art form and
profession through education and public awareness. Today, the essence of
the Professional Photographers of Ohio [PPO] is an active base of
highly-skilled professionals. The PPO keeps their membership, as well as
the general public attuned to the profession on the local, state, and
national level.
Continual
education is paramount in today's marketplace and the PPO provides that for
you. The PPO brings in top speakers from around the country during the
spring convention and fall conference to expand your knowledge of marketing
strategies, equipment usage and posing and lighting techniques. Our trade
shows allow you face-to-face contact with over 130 of your favorite vendors
and their services. Registration for both of these events are included with
your membership dues when you pre-register. In the early summer, we hold
a Marketing Super Summit/Family Days. This summit consists of speakers going non-stop
with all type of strategies that will help you to better market your studio
and maximize your dollars. Bring your family along to the Summit and
enjoy the day at the Columbus Zoo.
We host a
print competition during our Spring Convention and a folio
competition during our Fall Conference. Both competitions are judged by
nationally renown judges and are considered a great learning experience
as well as an enormous promotional opportunity for the winners.
Scholarship
opportunities are offered twice a year to our membership. Over $5,000
dollars in sponsorships to Triangle or a Winona sponsored school are given
away to deserving members.
Your dues
package includes our quartely publication, “The Contact Sheet,” and the
ability to utilize, at discounted fees, our service providers for business,
health and life insurance, professional debt collection, worker’s and
unemployment services, and long distance services. We also have a technical
advisory committee for questions and answers.
Our website
offers a members only section and a free listing of your studio's address,
phone numbers, email address and website links on our "Locate a
Photographer" link.
As you can see, your
