Kristy Bio:

Kristy Steeves graduated from Indiana University with a double major in journalism and political science. She worked as a broadcast journalist for 25 years. During that time she won four prestigious Emmy awards for her news reporting. Her lifelong interest in photography eventually lured her away from television. In 2009 Kristy made a life changing decision and switched careers. Now, instead of being in front of the camera, she is behind one.

Kristy is a Master Photographer, a Photographic Craftsman and a Certified Professional Photographer. She is currently the 2018 Ohio Photographer of the Year. In 2017 Kristy won first, second and third place in the state print competition for the children portrait category, along with first and second place in the pet portrait category. A year earlier, in 2016, she won first place awards at the state competition for having the highest scores in both the children and general portrait categories. In 2015 Kristy won the prestigious J. Anthony Bill award for having the most outstanding portrait in the state of Ohio. She has been an Ohio Top Ten Photographer for the past three years. Kristy has also been a gold and silver medalist at the International Print Competition and Kodak Gallery award recipient at the Northeast District Competition.

Kristy is currently the president of Professional Photographers of Northeast Ohio. She is also a member of Professional Photographers of Ohio and Professional Photographers of America.

Program Description:  Lighting and Posing 101

Christine will teach the 1, 2 and 3 light setups that she uses in the bulk of her studio portraits and competition images. Learn the basic lighting patterns that will create a solid base on which to create a wide variety of options for every client you have. She will cover custom white balance tools, light meters, lighting ratios and the use of reflectors and negative panels. She will also clue you in on a few of her handy tips that help make getting it right in camera an easily achievable goal.

Join Kristy Steeves as she shares her unique approach to photographing couples, seniors, children and families. Her two pronged approach makes it easy for photographers to understand how to pose men, women and children while getting beautifully sculpted images with lighting techniques. She delves into the details on individual body parts starting with the head and going all the way down to the toes. Her basic foundations will also help photographers who enter print competition as well as those interested in becoming Certified Professional Photographers. This session will be more than a lecture. Models will be on hand to help demonstrate effective posing to improve your images.
