With the judging for PPA’s new “Merit Image Review” being done behind the scenes, affiliate competitions like PPO’s take on a new importance in education. Join us on Saturday, July 8th as we review and score images. This can help with both MIR and the new International Photographic Competition. IPC registration opens 7/11 so the feedback you’ll get from PPO will prepare you for IPC!
Come join us at the Mansfield Reformatory! This is the location for the filming of the movie “Shawshank Redemption” and others. PPO rents out the entire facility that evening for our group only that evening. Our group receives access to areas not normally open during public tours. Bring your own models to photograph, or follow other photographers around to see how they photograph in the prison. Bring your own lighting of preference and wander around freely, just make sure it’s portable!

One key to successful sales is specifically shooting FOR the products you want to sell. Gary will start with the types and series of images he creates with specific items in mind to sell. Another element is lighting diversity. Learn the foundation elements of proper lighting, in other words, the rules, then learn how to break them with purpose. He will also illustrate how to create images with Off Camera Flash that don't look too "flashy". The second half of the program is how to convert those images into the maximum dollars. Gary will cover pricing strategies and the entire sales process, including how to dramatically increase your album sales averages.

We’ve missed you!! Join us for our annual convention, IN-PERSON! Friday we’ll have a PPA merited class on Babies with Lindsey Boler of Red Elephant as well as a CPP exam. In the evening, there’s a Drink & Click (Click & Drink? Shoot & Slosh?) and a chance to socialize and catch up, face to face, with your PPO friends. Later, we’ll be hosting our awards ceremony (free appetizers!) all in the beautiful private upstairs space of Combustion Brewery!
All joking aside, we will be following all recommended pandemic regulations and hosting many of our classes outside - which is why our Saturday classes are hosted at a local metro park, The Retreat at Turnberry. LIndsey Boler of Red Elephant Photography will be joining us for a full-day PPA Merited Workshop on newborn photography. Lindsey will walk you through how to turn your hobby or a side hustle into a full-time career. After 10 years of business, we will walk you through their path to success discussing the tough lessons learned. Learn how to operate your studio as a professional business. Identify your clientele, design a year-long marketing plan, and create a steady workflow that will set you apart from your competition. Learn how to make a profit by creating a content calendar, goal setting, and creating an ultimate client experience for your newborns and moms that gets everyone talking. And then we will completely customize a newborn session and photograph it. Learning posing, safety, swaddling, lighting, and more! This class will be very interactive and personalized to help each attendee grow their business and their newborn skills!

Program Description: I believe that there are many different ways to tell a story and many ways to utilize photoshop as a tool to tell those stories. The trick is learning which way makes the most sense to YOU and the story you want to tell.
I think a lot of people struggle with just getting started. We'll cover techniques you can use to come up with ideas and how to follow through to create what you envision. Then we'll discuss various ways to utilize photoshop to create it! I have lots of quick tips to speed up your workflow as well!
This program will vary each time it is taught as I use different images and take suggestions from the audience on what they would like to learn. My goal isn't to just teach you photoshop but rather to teach you how to develop your own way of using photoshop to create your own editing style. And most importantly, we'll have fun doing so!

Show off your best images from Mansfield Mayhem! We will pick the top 3-5 images in three categories and provide feedback in a live critique before announcing the category winners.
Each category winner will receive a 16x24 Metal Print courtesy of McKenna Imaging. The winning images will be printed and displayed at the PPO Convention - Socially UNDISTANCED - on July 23rd and 24th.

We will announce the winning images of our annual print competition awards virtually. Trophies will be awarded to the makers during our in-person convention in July.

In this two-hour virtual program, we will explore some of Scott’s favorite techniques to create a more artistic look to images that can often lead to additional high-dollar sales. A solid grasp of Photoshop is recommended, but not required as most of the things covered are approaches to common tools and their use.
