Whether you are looking to add pet photography to your studio or you already are a pet photographer, this workshop will teach you a variety of skills to grow your business and raise your sales averages.

You will learn social media marketing strategies and leave the class with a 12-month marketing calendar that includes both ongoing and seasonal events. Lisa Francescon will show you how to create a marketing schedule that will keep you organized all year long. Throughout the day, we will have dog models join us so Lisa can photograph them while demonstrating some of her favorite and most successful events.

AI is here to stay, so it's important to understand it and embrace it. The sooner you do, the better equipped you'll be to use it to your advantage. AI isn't going to destroy your business, but your AI-enabled competition sure can put a dent in your revenue. During this session, we'll use several AI-driven tools and I'll show you how to use and combine them to level up your photography and Photoshop composite skills. If you choose to make this a hands-on day, please bring a computer that you know works well and has the latest version of Photoshop installed. You should know Photoshop at a level where things like layers and masks are familiar to you, even if you're not an expert yet.

Lunch is provided for PPO Members. $15 for non-members.

This is a PPA continuing education class. All PPA members in good standing will receive a merit for attending.

We’re headed back to Cherry Valley Hotel in 2024 so that you can enjoy all the classes, meals, and socializing in one place! In addition to beautiful rooms and meeting spaces, the recently renovated Cherry Valley Hotel in Newark offers gorgeous outdoor walking spaces, a bar, and lots of room to sit around and catch up with friends and network!

Your registration includes four meals - lunch and dinner on Sunday, July 21st, and breakfast and lunch on Monday, July 22nd.

No counter-programming so you can see all of our speakers! Attend all of our classes on Sunday and Monday and PPA members will receive a continuing education merit. PPO members will also be eligible for a PPO service merit.

Join us for a shoot-out at Landoll’s Mohican Castle on October 16th!

We will be offering guided sessions with industry leaders David Beckham and Brent Watkins focusing on senior fashion with models provided from 1-4pm.

From 3-7pm, bring your own models for senior sessions, weddings, fashion, or portfolio building!

A box meal will be provided at 4pm for all registrants, including models/chaperones/assistants unless otherwise specified.

About GLIP

What makes GLIP such a great experience? For one thing, GLIP offers you a wide selection of instructors to choose from. Whether you’re a well seasoned photographer who yearns for some new ideas or ways to refine your business, or a new kid to the industry, you’ll find a class that will definitely give you a boost.

But that’s not all. We make sure that we include some fun for you as well as an education. You’re invited to join us at any of the social events that are scheduled (you can kick back and relax, make some new friends, and exchange ideas). The social hours are great, the late night mixer a blast, and awesome parties.

Classes are held at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bay City – Riverfront. It is a beautiful resort next to the shoreline of Saginaw Bay with many opportunities for creating awesome images. This will be a fun and exciting week for everyone.

The camaraderie is one of the things you’ll enjoy most.  Students at GLIP become “like family.” The open sharing of ideas with others will be a true beneficial highlight for you.

One key to successful sales is specifically shooting FOR the products you want to sell. Gary will start with the types and series of images he creates with specific items in mind to sell. Another element is lighting diversity. Learn the foundation elements of proper lighting, in other words, the rules, then learn how to break them with purpose. He will also illustrate how to create images with Off Camera Flash that don't look too "flashy". The second half of the program is how to convert those images into the maximum dollars. Gary will cover pricing strategies and the entire sales process, including how to dramatically increase your album sales averages.

CRITIQUES

If you have selected and paid for a critique for an image, it will be delivered to a JIT or affiliated juror shortly after the competition. Once the requested critiques are completed, a dropbox link will be emailed to the makers allowing access to the video files. We expect approximately two weeks for completion of all critiques after the competition closes. You have until the following Wednesday night AFTER competition to order critiques.

International Print Competition judging is complete! Did you watch it? Was there feedback that you didn’t understand or couldn’t figure out how to fix?

When we photograph for clients or image competitions our goal is to get it right in camera but it doesn’t always work. There can be challenges with each session that we may not anticipate. As a PPA-approved juror, Kristy Steeves often sees common issues in many images that can be fixed in Photoshop. Take for example highly reflective surfaces like metal, jewels, leather, and wood. The specular highlights are sometimes blown out and detail is lost. Then there’s the opposite: blocked-up blacks. How about banding on the background? Perhaps a bright rim light has bled over onto the side of someone’s neck or face.

Kristy has dealt with all of these issues herself and over time figured out a great way to fix these problems while maintaining a natural look. We hope you can join us for a day of basic Photoshop editing where Kristy can demonstrate and share some of her favorite tips and techniques with you!

This is a PPA-Merited workshop - part of their Continuing Education System. PPA members attending this class will receive a service merit that they can use towards their PPA degrees!

We’ve missed you!! Join us for our annual convention, IN-PERSON! Friday we’ll have a PPA merited class on Babies with Lindsey Boler of Red Elephant as well as a CPP exam. In the evening, there’s a Drink & Click (Click & Drink? Shoot & Slosh?) and a chance to socialize and catch up, face to face, with your PPO friends. Later, we’ll be hosting our awards ceremony (free appetizers!) all in the beautiful private upstairs space of Combustion Brewery!

All joking aside, we will be following all recommended pandemic regulations and hosting many of our classes outside - which is why our Saturday classes are hosted at a local metro park, The Retreat at Turnberry. Join Jamie Boler, Ron Hautau, and the Blumes for an all-day immersion in the world of Seniors, Fashion, and Families!

Program Description: I believe that there are many different ways to tell a story and many ways to utilize photoshop as a tool to tell those stories. The trick is learning which way makes the most sense to YOU and the story you want to tell.

I think a lot of people struggle with just getting started. We'll cover techniques you can use to come up with ideas and how to follow through to create what you envision. Then we'll discuss various ways to utilize photoshop to create it! I have lots of quick tips to speed up your workflow as well!

This program will vary each time it is taught as I use different images and take suggestions from the audience on what they would like to learn. My goal isn't to just teach you photoshop but rather to teach you how to develop your own way of using photoshop to create your own editing style. And most importantly, we'll have fun doing so!
